Cotes de Duras Wine AOC

Cotes de Duras is one of three Appellations d┤Origine Controlee (AOC) in the Lot-et-Garonne region. The other two are Buzet and Cotes du Marmandais.

The red and rose wines produced under the appellation title AOC Cotes de Duras may be made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec. They are similar in style to many of the Bordeaux wines, with Merlot based reds representing the majority of wine produced.

The appellation's white wines may be made only from Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscadelle, Mauzac, Pineau de la Loire (Chenin Blanc) and Ondenc.

There are over 200 AOC classified wine growers and one fine example is Domaine Gourdon.
